Freedom House was founded by Josh Carpenter and Evan Costner as a space for growth, connection, and community right here in Batesburg-Leesville. After moving to the area in 2017, Josh and Evan fully immersed themselves in the local community, building relationships, serving others, and making Batesburg-Leesville home.

Josh brings years of experience as a trainer and teacher, and leads Freedom Yoga, guiding students through movement, mindfulness, and personal growth. Evan leads Freedom Lab, combining extensive public and private sector experience in politics, business, and small business development to help local entrepreneurs thrive through strategic marketing and coaching.

In addition to their work at Freedom House, Josh and Evan also serve as directors of Cotton Branch Farm Sanctuary, where they are dedicated to animal rescue, care, and advocacy.
